Episode 9 Ending 2023
This year has been a series of ups and downs, left and right turns, and plot twists that no one saw coming. I can't imagine what many people are going through right now. It seems as though, every time I open my laptop and started up my browser page, it was opening to an obituary. Someone else had died either that same day or the day before. So many lost and others got sick. Didn't matter the age or race. All we can do is come together and cherish the time we have now. I enjoy the time I spend with my family. I understand that as I get older, so does my mother. I love her with all my heart and I don't see anything changing that.
I've heard so many people say, 'Life is short', but nobody really changes how they behave with one another. There are still mass shootings, police/civilian brutality, and many many other cruel and inhumane behavior that I just can't mention on this blog. As the human race, we have to do better. We have to be better. It's not up to governments, politicians, or monarchs; it's up to the people. Individuals who truly want the world to be a better place. It's not some fairy tale that can never be achieved, it's very realistic. The only problem is no one wants to put in the work. We're too lazy to want to work for change. We think that 'the world has always been this way' and 'what can I do? I'm only one person?'. Well, one person can do more than you think.
Put some thought into how you would like 2024 to go. No, we can't stop death from coming, but we can be there for those who are grieving, and truly need comfort. Make an extra sandwich, if you can, for a co-worker or classmate who might not have enough food to stretch for the week. Share a kind word with people who seem to be going through a rough patch. The currency for love is time, spend it wisely.
Love you all. See you in 2024.
-Jennifer
